How to see files locked by My Lockbox or Folder lock without using any password

Nowadays most of the people including us use PCs . We have some personal data that we don't want to share with anyone at any cost .A person may have his facebook and email passwords saved in a file in his PC ,a teacher may have question papers .
Obviously they cannot let anyone to see this files and for this purpose most of us use applications like Lockbox and Folder lock.
But unfortunately, our data is not 100% secure with these apps.
Below I'll show you how one access our file locked using Lockbox(read but cannot change it.)

i. I have a folder named Lockbox in 'D' drive containing a folder contacts which contains a text file contacts.txt .

ii. Let's lock it with Lockbox.

iii. The folder is now locked and we do not see it in drive 'D' .

Now , it's time to read the contacts.txt without unlocking it. To do so , steps to be followed are

1. Download a free software named Winutilities.(one can download it from www.ylcomputing.com or www.download.com )

2. After installation open the application and click on "Privacy & Security" on the left side of the application.

3.Now click on "File Undelete" and browse to the locked folder location.

4. It is now clear that the folder do not hidden in this app. Right click on the folder and a option of "Copy to.." appears .Click on the option and provide the desired accessible location where one want to copy in order to read the file.

5. Now one just needs to browse the selected location for coping and open the file.

Note :

  •  To do so one need to know the location of the folder before locking. This means our data is safe unless someone knows the folder location.
  • This technique is very effective in retrieving data if one forgets the password after locking in My Lockbox

Counter Measure

  •  Save your folder in locations difficult to guess.
  •  Use names like "new folder","Connectivity Cable Driver" etc . never use names like "personal" or other attention pulling names.
